Black Metal" è il secondo album in studio della band inglese Black Metal Venom. Il disco è stato registrato e rilasciato nel 1982 ed è considerato, sia uno dei più importanti dei Venom (se non il più importante) ma anche l'album (assieme a Reign in Blood degli Slayer) che ha ispirato il movimento extreme metal degli anni successivi, gettando le basi per la nascita di nuovi generi musicali come il Thrash e il Death Metal.Con questo album assieme a "Welcome to Hell" i Venom mostrano al mondo Metal la loro proposta musicale che chiamarono Black Metal. Bands come Slayer, Bathory, Possessed, Sepultura e Sarcofago impararono da loro per evolvere il Black Metal grazie ad album quali "Hell Awaits", "Bathory", "The Return......", "Under the Sign of the Black Mark", "Seven Churches", "Morbid Visions" e "I.N.R.I.". Dopo fu la volta di grandissime bands quali Mayhem, Samael, Beherit, Mortuary Drape, Necromass, Emperor e Mysticum che grazie al loro genio compositivo fecero evolvere ancora di più questa testimonianza del Male in chiave Metal con capolavori e pietre miliari intitolati: "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", "Worship Him", "Drawing Down the Moon", "All the Witches Dance", "Mysteria Mystica Zothyriana", "In the Nightside Eclipse" e "In the Streams of Inferno". La Sanctuary Records nel 2009 riedita una nuova Deluxe Edition con 11 bonus tracks rispetto all' originale dell' 82, 2 bonus rispetto all' edizione del 2002 e in più un DVD... una edizione veramente di lusso!
La copertina dell'album mostra il volto di un demone, ma se si guarda più attentamente si notano anche un pentacolo sulla fronte del demone, una croce rovesciata sul corno di sinistra e la scritta "666" su quello di destra.
